Founded on January 1, 2004, International Championship Wrestling originally got its start as Gulf Coast Wrestling, a small wrestling company based out of Biloxi, MS. Former wrestlers Tommy "Midnight" Powell, a regional legend that worked the Southeastern federations during the 1980s, and his wife Crystal, who was a decent wrestler in her own right, started up the company in hopes of luring young talent to the region. Within five years, the promotion was starting to gain momentum as more wrestlers began signing with them in hopes of improving their trade before moving on to bigger promotions. Opening to packed venues, the company soon began to turn a profit.

That all changed when The League appeared. Using new concepts, The League took the wrestling world by storm. Many wrestlers who would have looked at GCW instead attempted to sign with The League, leaving GCW somewhat in a steady pattern for years. It was only after The League took a hiatus that GCW recovered. Under a new investment group led by a mysterious player with ties to The League, the Powells decided to change their business strategy and follow the example that The League created. To do that, the company decided to split into two companies: ICW, the new company and GCW, which would continue to hold shows on the coast. To add another twist to The League formula, the trio decided to introduce a relegation rule that forced the worst competitors to work in the GCW for the following season while two promising wrestlers from GCW get promoted to the ICW.

Now with near limitless budget, ICW began its search for wrestlers to join the ICW. With a new season approaching, the call is out for anyone who dares enter the ring.
